I promised myself that I would try not to whine about stuff in this forum (I'll save that for when I see you in person). So instead, I'm going to tell you that my week was more difficult than usual, but there were some awesome happenings that more than made up for the negatives.
1) You just can't beat the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (http://www.hlsr.com/). Mike and I went to see Rascall Flatts with good friends Emily & Jason on Wednesday evening. We enjoyed awesome first level seats for free (thanks Greg!), cold beer, giant bbq baked potatoes, easy parking, and great music - never mind the super entertaining rodeo events and moving patriotic tributes for Military Appreciation Night. Don't forget the most popular Mutton Bustin' - what a hoot! What a great evening with my hubby and friends.
2) Thursday night Mike's mom graciously watched the kids while we went to dinner at The Glass Wall - our favorite eating establishment that also happens to be just around the corner from our house (http://www.glasswalltherestaurant.com/). Rock on with the short rib tacos, sweet potatoes that make your mouth water, and grilled onion with blue cheese topping! Making me hungry just thinking about it!
3) This BEAUTIFUL weather today in Houston - couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous sunny mild temp day to be had - not a cloud in the sky! Made me wanna lay down in green pastures and take a nap.
4) Discovered a new awesome spot for dining - The Big Mamou on Studewood (http://www.thebigmamou.com/). On their perfectly placed back patio (out of direct sun) I devoured a full pound of crawfish, corn and new potatoes with my cold Corona and lime. And not to stop there, I swiftly ate not one, but TWO handmade beignets with a cup of hot chickory coffee. It's my understanding that the proprietors are NOLA transplants... so that should tell you something about the awesomeness of this meal.
Now, in case you don't know me that well, you might not have picked up on the trend in my "great" moments for the week. It is an undeniable fact that I LOVE food. I mean LOVE IT. Good food - not poorly thought out stuff that you slop on the plate - but food that someone prepared with meaning and purpose and love. This is of course contrary to my plan to lose the last of my baby weight, which I am diligently working on via exercise and counting calories (more on that later).
Overall, the week has ended on a high. Next week is potentially starting off with a bang, but I'll know more on that tomorrow.
Cheers!
